Morning everyone, sorry it’s been so long since my last post, last year was crazy busy and I also still had my part time job so had no time to sit and write! But now I’m back with my first post of 2017!
A few weeks ago I went to a local beauty salon to try out Lash extensions. As a bridal make up artist I am always being asked my opinion on them, and if I think they would be better than the usual strip lashes you can buy, so I thought by getting some done I could let you all know my thoughts.
As you can see below, there is a massive difference between my natural lashes and the ones with the lash extensions. I’ve never really been one to dislike my lashes, although they are quite straight and I have to curl them before mascara each morning, but that’s fine it’s just part of my make up routine, but I will say they did look beautiful! (also please excuse the massive indent I have on the bridge of my nose – I had a little fight with the boot of my car!!)
Here is a list of the pro’s and con’s so you can decide for yourself..
PRO’s
They look amazing, full, black and very fluttery!
No need for any eye makeup, you wake up looking great (especially good for the sch run in the morning!)
They have a range of different lengths and volumes, I chose to have a natural length with a bit of volume, but you could go much longer and change the amount of volume.
Perfect for holidays as you have no need to worry if your mascara is waterproof or not!
Great for special occasions/weddings or if you have very short lashes naturally.
CON’s
Time consuming as first appointment can be around 90 minutes.
You can’t get them wet for 24/48 hours, and must avoid using oil based products around the eye area.
They need to be infilled every 2-3 weeks as they fall out with the natural lash.
They are semi permanent, so unlike the strip falsies you can buy which you remove in the evening, these are carefully applied to each lash with a special long wearing glue.
The worst bit for me was although they looked beautiful and the beautician did a great job, if you decide not to keep them and have the infills, you are left with what looks like feral spiders legs hanging from your eye, while they slowly come off. I did try to soak them off with baby oil but it proved tricky and didn’t want to pull them out and ruin my natural lashes.
Would I get them again? Probably not, but only because I love to really be able to take my eye makeup off at night with out having to worry, and don’t want to have to keep going back to get them maintained.
With that in mind I did love them, they looked great, were the perfect length for me and didn’t look to over the top, and would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a fuller look, the salon was lovely and clean and would definitely recommend Westover beauty on Westover Road, Bournemouth, to anyone wanting to try them. If your thinking of having them for your big day then I would say maybe a month or two before to have a trial run to see how you find them first, so you can decide for your self!
I find this article very helpful and informative. It’s been a while since I came across such relevant content. Thanks for sharing it with us.
